Adulteration of beverages (including alcohol) and edible oils is a major issue in India with significant impact to fiscal as well as public health & safety. Lab based testing methods are cumbersome, time-consuming and open to tampering through sample or report switching. Leading to financial and brand damage, public health risks, and hampered regulatory enforcement resulting from counterfeit products and contaminated additives.
We partnered with an innovative startup to design and engineer a cost effective, portable optical spectroscope powered by an AI-driven detection engine. The handheld solution enabled real-time identification of adulteration across a wide range of consumables – including dairy products, edible oils, and beverages- delivering rapid, accurate results directly at the point of inspection.
